OurRoots Project Update: 6 Major Milestones We Have Hit This Month

We are working day and night to bring you a service that you will actually love. If you ever doubt our capacity to bring this into fruition, then you are absolutely mistaken. The dream is coming to reality, and this OurRoots project update will show you exactly how far we have come.

I am excited to share what we have accomplished over the past few weeks. We have been heads down, building the foundation of something truly special. Here is where we are.

What We Have Accomplished So Far

1. WhatsApp Message Templates: Approved by Meta

Getting WhatsApp set up for client communication was our first major hurdle, and we have cleared it. This was not as simple as downloading an app and hitting send. To use WhatsApp for business communications, we had to submit message templates to Meta for approval.

We hired a top-notch and highly skilled developer to prepare and submit our application to Meta, which was happily approved.

This means we can now communicate with you directly through WhatsApp in a professional, seamless way. No more worrying about emails getting lost in spam folders or messages going unread.

WhatsApp is where millions of Africans and the African diaspora already spend their time. By meeting you where you are, we are making it easier for you to stay connected with OurRoots every step of the way.

2. Amen AI Chatbot: Smart, Empathetic, and Ready to Guide You

The platform will dedicate a whole page to Amen AI

Millions of Africans and the African diaspora use WhatsApp to communicate, and the chatbot is becoming popular in heritage travel. That is exactly why we devised it as a solution for OurRoots. But we did not stop at just messaging—we built an AI chatbot to support you 24/7.

We assigned the development of the chatbot to a capable LLM expert. We have been rigorously testing what he has built, and trust me, it looks solid. Above all, it is empathetic and answers questions in a way that feels human and supportive.

The Amen AI Chatbot is not just a robot spitting out generic responses. It understands the emotional weight of heritage travel. It knows that reconnecting with your roots is deeply personal, and it responds accordingly.

Whether you have questions at 2 AM or need encouragement before booking your flight, Amen will be there.

3. Scoring Logic: Personalising Your Journey with the Travel DNA Quiz

Heritage travel is different from general tourism, so there is a need to personalise services to each person who visits the platform. You are not just looking for beaches and safaris—you are looking for connection, meaning, and belonging.

The landing page contains what we have called the Travel DNA Quiz. This quiz asks you a few questions and then provides content recommendations tailored specifically to you.

As we write this OurRoots project update, the development of the Travel DNA Quiz is at an advanced stage.

The scoring logic behind the quiz is sophisticated. It analyses your responses and creates a personalised roadmap for your journey.

Whether you are seeking spiritual healing, cultural immersion, or ancestral exploration, the quiz will guide you to the right resources and experiences.

4. Logo: Designed with AI, Refined with Purpose

OurRoots.Africa Logo

You have probably seen our African music logo—we developed it using AI. But we have big dreams. We want to develop everything from scratch and leave no stone unturned as we build the Explorers Tribe for our AI logo. We will let you know how it goes.

Our logo represents the connection between music, culture, and the journey home. Music is the heartbeat of Africa, and it is the thread that connects us all, no matter where we are in the world. The logo is still being refined, but we are proud of the direction it is taking.

5. The OurRoots Platform: Everything Comes Together by Christmas

This is one of the biggest projects we will have. It brings all parts of the project together—from the Travel DNA Quiz to the Amen AI Chatbot to the community hub. It will host both users, service providers, and the admin, and it must be well-designed.

We have awarded the Figma design contract, and the output will be ready by Christmas. This platform is where everything comes together. It is where you will take your quiz, interact with Amen, connect with other members of the diaspora, and plan your journey home.

The platform will be intuitive, beautiful, and built with you in mind. We are not cutting corners. We are building something that will stand the test of time.

Challenges We Have Overcome

Building OurRoots has not been easy. Getting Meta approval for WhatsApp took weeks of back-and-forth. Finding an LLM expert who understood the emotional nuance of heritage travel was a challenge. Balancing quality with our Christmas deadline has meant late nights and tough decisions.

But every challenge has been worth it. We are not just building a product—we are building a bridge back to the continent for generations to come.

What Our Early Supporters Are Saying

We have been collecting feedback through our survey, and the response has been overwhelming. People are hungry for this. They have been waiting for someone to create a platform that truly understands the diaspora experience.

I have wanted to visit Africa my whole life, but I did not know where to start. OurRoots.AFRICA has raised my curiosity and I am happy to wait.

That is exactly what we are building.

What is Next?

The Figma design will be complete by Christmas, and then we will move into full development mode in the new year. We are aiming for a beta launch in Q1 2026, with the full platform going live shortly after.

We will keep you updated every step of the way. This OurRoots project update is just the beginning. There is so much more to come.

Thank you for your patience, your support, and your belief in this vision. We are building OurRoots.Africa for you, and we will not let you down.
