Have you heard the news yet? Morocco has officially dethroned Egypt as Africa’s top destination. This North African gem attracted 17.4 million visitors in 2024 as compared to 2023. With its stunning natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and welcoming atmosphere, Morocco is solidifying its position as a premier tourist destination in Africa, and its future looks brighter than ever.

How about Egypt? Well, the home of the pyramids came in second place with 15.7 million visitors. However, it outshined other countries with more significant numbers, like Tunisia, which had 10 million.

This country has a plan worth bragging about. This country’s tourism minister, Fatim-Zahra Ammor, believes they worked hard for it.

She said, We’ve worked hard for this. From bold marketing campaigns to solid deals with tour agencies and airlines, we’ve all gone out to make Morocco irresistible.”

And to be honest, it’s working. Strategic infrastructure, tourism, and marketing investments are paying off big time.

1. Culture, Sports, and Festivals Galore

Apart from overtaking Egypt, they have set their eyes on another bigger goal—hosting the African Cup of Nations( AFCON) in December 2025. The calendar will be packed with sports and media events. The target? To draw 18.5 million visitors. If you are a sports fan, it’s a perfect opportunity to book your tickets.

2. Rabat’s Renaissance 

Even though Marrakech and Casablanca are major tourist magnets, Rabat is getting a glow-up. Mayor Fatiha El Moudni plans to transform Rabat from a bureaucratic hub to a cultural hot spot. Moreover, this city has plans to triple its hotel capacity from the current 11.000 hotel beds so it can broaden its leisure offerings. Culture is the heart of Rabat’s appeal, and we are here for it.
