Uganda’s tourism is rapidly growing and Jinja is the next big adventure hub. For those of you who don’t know already, Jinja is a tiny town in eastern Uganda that offers a blend of economic potential, cultural diversity, and thrilling adventure. Also known as the “Adventure Capital of East Africa”, it is home to some of the world’s finest grade 5 white water rafting

And here’s more. Jinja is a treasure trove of breathtaking scenery, exciting activities, and vibrant people/atmosphere that caters to thrill-seekers.

Note: While you raft through these angry waters, always be prepared for the unexpected. A seemingly calm stretch could transform into a monstrous wave before the word “OMG” escapes your lips. Not to worry, your guides will be right there to “catch” you, lol.

It is strategically located to connect to Kampala and Central Uganda (76 km), Eastern Uganda (Tororo, Mbale, Soroti), Northern Uganda) and if you want, cross over to Kenya (Malaba, Kisumu, Eldoret or head to Nairobi, usually by bus).

While in Jinja you can embark on a wildlife safari. Jinja is absolutely beautiful – green with thick forests and loads of water.

Or maybe hike the breathtaking Sipi Falls, on your way to  Mt. Elgon, which by the way, is surrounded by lush greenery too. 

On your way towards Tororo from Jinja stop over at Busitema and feed baboons – they will be waiting for you by the roadside.

Try hiking through the Mabira Forest Reserve, and encounter a diverse array of plants and animal life. Then you can also explore the lush green landscapes surrounding the Nile River. All this is perfect for a peaceful escape amidst nature’s beauty.
