Here’s something interesting about Jamaica. known as one of the most popular tourist destinations within the Caribbean, Jamaica is a sight for sore eyes and a pinnacle of warm temperatures which is perfect for a family vacation. Being a Jamaican native, I’d suggest sunbathing on the bright and sunny sandy beaches of Ocho Rios, or bamboo rafting on the cascading Lethe River. This beautiful island I’m proud to call home, is located in the heart of the Caribbean and a breath of fresh air for all who experience its people and rich culture.

Map of Jamaica
Though small in size, Jamaica is a major part of the Caribbean Islands. Located south of Cuba and West of Haiti, its small stature makes it easy to cover the island in one visit. If you are visiting from the United States you get a major benefit of a beautiful get away all while not being too far from home. It’s a 3-6 hour flight anywhere within the states making it a popular tourist stop due to its easy travel time. If you aren’t in the U.S don’t be discouraged! No matter where you are traveling from, the journey is worth the trip!
Jamaica’s Sunny Climate and Best Times to Visit
One of the things I love most about Jamaica is its warm climate all year round. If you are wondering when is the perfect time to visit your chances are at least 90 to 10 that no matter the month or season you will always get warm and toasty weather with a breathtaking background of sunny skies! Take it from me, the summer period is perfect for family getaways, destination weddings and casual leisure activities.
Jamaica’s National Capital: Kingston
The birthplace to popular musical genres reggae and dancehall, this musical haven of an island is an open-home to music lovers especially dancehall and reggae fans. Personally, this is my kryptonite! Kingston is the perfect choice if you have a dire need to experience this musical journey and explore historical sites. Art lovers this is your destination as Kingston is filled with art galleries that connect other passionate creatives who share the desire to understand the world through expression. Plus, if you have a sweet tooth like me, Kingston’s Devon House is a national treasure! To top it off you get to experience learning more on the island’s history all while having a tasty treat. Who wouldn’t want a slice or even a fraction of this heaven sent experience?

Go-To Destinations when travelling to Jamaica
Although the entire island is filled with amazing places to experience, here are a few tourist hubs I personally recommend if you enjoy a mixture of relaxation and exploration:
- Negril – There are over 7 miles of beaches located in this spot on the island. Its clean and clear blue waters make it almost irresistible to dive in for a good time. If you want to have a calm and lazy day while on vacation, Negril is my top pick! Its reggae-oriented aura and its cozy seats on the sea side makes it best for a relaxing day.
- Montego Bay – If you are easily charmed by the lively nightlife of the island, Montego Bay is the go-to spot! Known as a popular spot filled with street markets, hotel resorts and an unending buffet selection of diners to choose from, these benefits make this spot the best choice for family, friends and loved ones to vacay and gain the full experience. A popular pinnacle of peace is its Doctor’s Cave Beach which is very family friendly and provides a sealed assurance for a good time.
- Ocho Rios – Hikers, sight-seers and water lovers this is your fill! Popular for its variety of waterfalls a well known must visit spot is Dunn’s River. Stop in awe while on a breath-taking hike of its hilly terrains and majestic falls. Whether it’s just to dip your toes or take a full shower this spot is worth every penny as you get a day filled with adventure, sightseeing and positive vibes! For the adventurers, I recommend Ocho Rios.
